KC Scout Ramp Meters to Switch On for Testing After Server Crash Earlier this Spring
LEE'S SUMMIT – During the month of July, motorists will notice many of the KC Scout ramp meters will resume service.
What they may not know is why they were off.
This past March, the server that supports all of the KC metro ramp meters failed catastrophically, causing all ramp meters to turn off.
After months of rebuilding, testing, fine tuning and further testing, KC Scout is slowly turning them back on. The team will turn the
ramp meters on in the following order:
- 135th Street at U.S. 69 (2 locations)
- Eastbound I-435 from Stateline Road to the east
- Eastbound I-435 from Metcalf Avenue to Stateline Road
- Westbound I-435 from Stateline Road to Metcalf Avenue
- Westbound I-435 from Holmes to Stateline Road
If the ramp meters run successfully, KC Scout will complete turning them on by mid-August 2016.
As a reminder! When ramp meters are off, traffic on entrance ramps should merge as normal with oncoming traffic.
